Original Equipment Manufacturing, OEM; so what kind of products are they: they are the “WANSA, MUSHRIQ, ELECTROZAN” you know, the electronic products sold all over Kuwait that we never heard off as brands. I mean what is wansa really or Mushriq electronics or the new electorzan shop. These products are all called OEM, its when one company buys a certain technology from another manufacture and names it with his own brand like WANSA. So these products piled up in Kuwait due to the cheap cost and sold a lower price than standard electronic like Sony and Panasonic. You see Kuwaiti business men are becoming smart by the day, they go to china, find a cheap manufacturer, make a deal, load container of bad products and resells them here for a cheaper price. Then the new strategy after charging you for your purchase they go and make a stupid 5kd charge for extra guarantee “kafala: for another 5 years, which we all know that the product will be obsolete by that time. Its like when you read the Waseet magazine and you see an ad saying PC sold with a guarantee of 5 years, who the hell now keeps a PC for 5 years (my granma maybe:P) Why these products are cheaper than the original? its because LG sells such DVD players for cheap for the so called Wansa brand but, they do not provide them with the full technology.  So i just wanted to explain the flooding of OEM products in Kuwait, and say: go with the original well known brands, you’ll be better off.

Its the first time that i hear the term OEM, so thanks for clarifying it. Its a good thing that Kuwaiti business men are becoming smart by the day, but the bad thing is that it looks like comsumers are becoming stupider by the day!

Because I wasn’t going to be in Kuwait for long, I bought all my appliances at Al-Ghanim, and went for the Wansa brand. Mostly because for products where the technology hasn’t chcanged in years – microwaves, washing machines, dishwashers, tumble driers, refrigerators – there is little difference between Wansa and other brands. The prices are significantly lower.
For new technology though, it’s different. For music, I’d never buy Wansa. But a while back I bought a cheap 26″ LCD tv branded by Wansa after some research, because this particular model is made in Korea using an LG LCD panel, and the identical unit is sold as a specialist brand in Canada and Europe.
So it’s not always bad news to buy Wansa… just be careful what you buy.

I am actually a big fan of OEM products (granted, you know what your buying).. They are usually cheap electronics that get the job done.. Like putting a TV in a mu5ayem or outdoors when you don’t want to spend a ton of money. With Sony/Panasonic you don’t know if your money is going towards the electronics or the name.

As long as you’re aware of what you’re buying, then I don’t see it as a bad thing. Moocherx put it nicely in his comment.

electrozan sells a 1080P tv for like 600KD. that’s pretty hard to beat and even if the picture is shite for a 1080P set, it’s still going to be alot better than most 1080i or 720p original brand sets in its price range.

  13. Kthekuwaiti says:

Don’t let the numbers fool you .. Most people can’t tell the difference between 720p and 1080p .. but they can tell the difference between a bad tv and a good one.

  14. Qaiss says:

Holla: this are good prices, disregard this previous post:P

KtheKuwaiti: so what advise can i get on buying best oem??
