Good discussion..why are we considered to have the strongest econcomies in the world yet so behind in many sections. Providing electricity shouldn’t take more than a year to try and solve…but with no planning, corruption and tribal influence we will always behind….that is the Kuwaiti way! Giving problems but no solution…too much waste of time.

Power outages due to bad management.
The newest power station we have islike over 20 years old. We were warned by people like saadoon ten years ago that this would happen.. and yet no new power stations were built. Kuwait gov only thinks about today, never about tomorrow.
One word comes to my mind about the whole situation.. “IHMAAL”.

DUBAI ARE CONSTANTLY BUILDING NEW POWER STATIONS.. AND NOW THINKING ABOUT BUILDING NUCLEAR POWER STATIONS… THE MIND BOGGLES WHEN I SEE THE COMPARISON.

first it was water cuts, and now Kuwait is too poor to pay it’s own electricity bill LOL wala maskhara.
i guess a certain someone is too busy stealing 40 million KD per year more than he needs to care about his own country and he is taking it to hell with him.

Someone explained to me but I’m a bit hazy on the details so bear with me. My understanding is that there’s this equipment that needs to be rehauled or changed completely but instead they put temporary solutions to make the “wi7da” last longer. Why? Becaue if they change the “wi7da” then they’d have to stop electricity altogther so instead they chose to put a temporary solution while they build a whole new “wi7da” to cater to the rising number of consumers. I think they did build a new “wi7da” but it’s still not keeping up with the population. Why? Apparently it’s relatively easy to assess the trend of Kuwaiti people increasing but not easy to gage how many non-Kuwaitis are going to increase. Hence planning and projections go off-mark.

Stinni: yah something is wrong, bad as management but nobody ever gets the blame!!

Anonymous Coward: that is the best solution, same thing happened a while ago when traffic tricket fines jacked up people started repecting the law, this should happen too, but someone has to be blamed for the electricty shortages not being anticipaited.

I liked your proposal at the end…it definitely makes sense. My friend is a big supporter of this “cut”, he thinks that Kuwaitis “ma woon el’la bel 3een el 7amrah.” LOL

and who will pay for the cases brought before the courts for deformation ? what you are calling for is a clear cut case of deformation and an extra 5000 kd waiting for be collected to anyone whos name is published as bad waster

I don’t know why all the complications in finding a solution for this problem. The solution is really simple. In Kuwait, consumers pay less than 5% of the actual cost of electricity and water, The rest is paid by the government. Make consumers pay 100% of the cost, and you will see a drop in electricity and water consumption immediately. Hit them where it hurts, those excessive Kuwaities, in their pockets!
