Why does Qualitynet block www.allposters.com, what does this website that sells posters have to do with pornography! Looks like Qualitynet blocks website at its own convenience, not even knowing the content. Lets say even if they had a reason to block it, is that reason by court order in Kuwait or just a managers view of the world. I have sent Qualitynet an email 5 days back  and with no response:

Dear Quality Net,

Why is the website allposters.com blocked, what does it have anything to do with pornography! Please stop blocking websites depending on your moods, and please clarify on what basis are you blocking websites, are they by court order?

Regards

Qaiss

Even though as customers and consumers we have the right to know why these websites are blocked, i would understand pornography, but why a poster website? because its selling one poster that includes nudity!

This is a change from my usual posts, but may be interesting. There is a certain astronomy theory that i came up with and has religion mixed into it and i needpeoples thoughts about it so here goes: The Islamic religon dates are based on the moon, ya3ney to know when is ramadan starting and when other months start etc… and we all know that Muslim pray facing Mecca in Saudi Arabia yes, okay so just imagine with me here, in 2020 NASA is planning a space mission to the planet mars, and would like to start a human colony there. So now lets jump to 2180 more or less, and we are so advanced that we have Muslims living on the planet mars, (okay i said try to imagine:P) Mars as a planet has 2 moons, on earth we only have one, and Mars has 687 days per year. So here comes my question: what happens to Muslims living on mars, where would they pray and what direction? how would they relate to ramadan and other Islamic calenders?

Below is a beautiful picture ”sunset on the planet Mars”

it felt though i was swimming inside a glass filled with ICE CUBES ! water tempreture averaged 22 degrees, wasnt much sunny, but it was fair. This was my first diving trip for this season, we headed to GAROH Island, the underwater visibility ranged from 7 to 10 meters, which is not bad for Kuwait’s Sea.
i got to see an OLD Turtle, it was over the hill, way past due! and i saw a Stingray, along with 2 bottles of Pepsi, some aluminum airplane food containers, and lots of corel reeves.

i share with you 2 of the pictures that i’ve taken…… Enjoy !

So after opening at Marina Mall, now Krespy Kremes is at Avenue Mall selling its heart attack infested product. After reaching the number 8 in the world for obesity standards now with the help of chains like Krespy Kremes our next target is to be Number ONE! Some may say i’m taking it to serious, but if obesity is an epidemic in Kuwait then i might be normal saying that the government with the ministry of health and maybe the Airheads the baladiya should do something about such advertising. Okay at the end of the day i’m a business man too but we should have some social and ethical standards about such advertising. Honestly if we implement such constraints on advertising specialy fast and unhealthy food, we save a large number of dinars of health expenses, i’ll explain: if in 10 years time and the obesity epidemic is still on the rise, who do you think will be falling in the hospitals for treatment, YOU! we would all have a part in the health cycle. but if we start awareness programs then we would save money in the future from thousands of Kuwaitis with health related problems. You see when its me and you, it does not make a difference but when its you, your family, friends, friends of the family, co-workers etc it becomes an epidimic, init!:P

I never wrote about some thing political because i’m fed-up with the bull shit we all listen too each day, but one thing i want to add on the daily BS of political talk in Kuwait. is measuring everything we do, in politics and in other issues; what i mean is, if a guy comes and says ”I want to become a parliament member”, and he gets the money and talks to people, lie his ass off:p i meant lobby around etc…, but what we dont do is measure the outcome of his campaign or his political career. If he promised a certain law to lobby for and did nothing about it just to lure in voter, a small committee should be established to measure such issues and record the MP’s outcomes, creating a weighted ratio and on and on with other stuff he is doing or promised to do. So his voters can go to an unbiased entity monitoring this parliament member and show us how much he really did do. This is one example now use this with every single thing in Kuwait, the water and electricity crises, ads are being put in the street, money is spent on TV ads yes, then show us the numbers of the ministry of electricity if the usage went down accordingly with the ads and promotions. We as consumers would love to know, if we really made a difference. if i switched of the lights every time i left home! Instead of puttying halema boland to tell us to conserve energy, they should tell us how well we did. numbers is everything!!, Kuwait has to be managed by the numbers not by talk. From the numbers we can know where we are heading. Obesity rates are sky rocketing, what is the ministry of health doing about it, the marathon thing okay, whats the outcome from that, it should be measured in numbers and released for the public, how many people benefited from the marathon, how much coverage it created, its awareness scope etc….A new campaign called “isteathmer” (invest) is all over Kuwait now, so this should be measured too, are teenagers opening business are they taking risks, have they made any signed agreement with young Kuwaitis or the whole campaign again is for show and to promote the companies backing it up!!!?? No numbers or any for that matter came from the above examples, so how can we know where we stand? Maybe its thin ice maybe its not, we will never know the intensity of the problem unless we figure out, study the numbers!

Original Equipment Manufacturing, OEM; so what kind of products are they: they are the “WANSA, MUSHRIQ, ELECTROZAN” you know, the electronic products sold all over Kuwait that we never heard off as brands. I mean what is wansa really or Mushriq electronics or the new electorzan shop. These products are all called OEM, its when one company buys a certain technology from another manufacture and names it with his own brand like WANSA. So these products piled up in Kuwait due to the cheap cost and sold a lower price than standard electronic like Sony and Panasonic. You see Kuwaiti business men are becoming smart by the day, they go to china, find a cheap manufacturer, make a deal, load container of bad products and resells them here for a cheaper price. Then the new strategy after charging you for your purchase they go and make a stupid 5kd charge for extra guarantee “kafala: for another 5 years, which we all know that the product will be obsolete by that time. Its like when you read the Waseet magazine and you see an ad saying PC sold with a guarantee of 5 years, who the hell now keeps a PC for 5 years (my granma maybe:P) Why these products are cheaper than the original? its because LG sells such DVD players for cheap for the so called Wansa brand but, they do not provide them with the full technology.  So i just wanted to explain the flooding of OEM products in Kuwait, and say: go with the original well known brands, you’ll be better off.

Passing by the construction area in salmiya and seeing the workers, work day and night in building what appears to be a new tunnel in salmiya to fix the congestion problem. I honestly like seeing such stuff because it makes me feel that Kuwait Municipality”Air heads” are planning for something. But whats my concern is that the company that got the tender project to build a tunnel, does it have such experience to do so, what similar projects it built before. I know every company has to start some where but what tunnels did any Kuwaiti company build? The Gazali brigde that looks close to some sort of tunnel and the one taking you to Kuwait Municipality”air heads” is British built or designed atleast. I can trust the British but not Kuwaitis. why i’m saying such thing because with Kuwait weather and high temperature you need certain control issue’s that must be dealt with. Example: if a car breaks down in mid of summer in the middle of the tunnel, then goes into flames, how long will the concrete hold against blazing fire. some thing else: what will happen if congestion starts in the tunnel, what did  the contractors  doing in such scenario, if the ventilation stops below and no air flow is passing we can all die from CO gases build up. Is there a control room down in the tunnel, what about security camera’s, or how strong the ventilation system? why cant such information be given to the public to know and understand? Such incidents happened all over the world, what makes Kuwait so different?

In the states its the law and compulsory to tip, ofcourse it depends on which state and as percentage wise, what i’m trying to say here is that we should all give tips, let me explain in simple numbers: If an  employee at Costa coffee gets a salary of 120kd, which they do and you ordered you american coffee and a muffin for 1.600kd,  keep the 400fils as a tip that would not look as much right, wrong! See if it was me who tiped then comes you and tip again then another and another. So if this barista, gets an average of 4kd per day, it will accumulate to 104kd per month (4 mutiplyd by 26 working days) Such an amount create a huge difference in the employees income and spending life style. We all know that most of the money goes back to their home countries but, if there income increase they will spend more here, and have a better life style. The barista total salary from 12okd jumped to 228kd because of your tips. Another thing, when they notice you tipping, next time you visit, you would get a better service, once they even memorized my order:) Even when paying by visa or ATM you can still tip, just add a 1.5kd in the bottom of the bill in writing and they will charge it to your credit card. One more thing, if you got charged a Service charge (chillies does that) of about 10% of your bill, this 10% is separated into 40 and 60 %, the 40% goes to the cooks and the 60% to waiters, this is in total calculated at end of business day. So tipping here is on your own desire.
