Who haven’t been to Marine Mall? It’s a land mark in Kuwait which attracts many citizens and residents basically every single day of the week (It’s always packed no matter what day it is). The Marina Mall project as everyone is aware off, constitutes of two buildings connected by a pedestrian bridge. This bridge is there to cater for the mall’s clients/customers for ease of transportation between the main mall and the Marina Crescent, which defines the shops renting at the shopping mall and the attending customers.  And whenever the mall shuts at 11pm the bridge shuts as well! So if you are parking at the crescent side of the mall (where parking is easier to get) to attend a film playing at Cinescape (located at the main mall) and the film ends after 11pm you are in trouble in a sense that you will have to cross the 3-lane (un-stripped for crossing over) Gulf Road which has a speed limit of 80kmph but according to the Kuwaiti mentality can have a speed margin of an additional 80kmph, to get to your car!

I personally tried to contact the management (but failed after several attempts) and spoke to some supervisors there including a few of the security guards about it, but ‘no life to whom you call for’. My main concern is the safety of the people, there is a Kuwaiti aphorism which more or less means “Does not have mercy nor will allow God’s mercy to take place”All what is required is that the pedestrian bridge to be opened till after the end of the last movie played at Cinescape. Is that a lot to ask for? Are they not concerned for the safety of the people? Also if it’s a cost issue, I suggest that the management would place a Troll at the bridge after 11pm and who ever wants to cross must either present the Cinescape tickets to the Troll or has to defeat him in a battle!

Just because you wanna get back to your car OR your planning on stealing a shop

There is a point I missed in this article I would like to add, is that the Gulf road is 6 lanes both ways (3+3).
The layout of the mall is constructed in a way where the bridge can be accessed directly from the parking lots at the main mall and lead directly to the Crescent, which eliminates security concerns in respect of thieves stealing shops (In Kuwait these type of thieves don’t exist – No report of that size robbery made). Besides, we’re in 2007, and surveillance camera can be installed at various locations to monitor all un-manned spaces, and all shops are fitted with anti-theft equipment. (Does this answer your question Amricano?) .

Amricano: I will assume and give you the benefit of the doubt that you have not been there thus you don’t know what you are talking about, but since you have made such remark, the Kuwaiti saying states “A person sees other through the eye of his own nature”.

Hey Marra, would it not be easier to just have your driver bring the car when you need it? :)

but seriously, why should anyone have to wait around at the convenience of cinemagoers, if you are going there, park there.

    Have a great day :)

and another little point marra :)

now that your democratically elected government has given women the vote, and also (last week) passed a law banning women from working between 8pm and 7am (except for medical services and immigration) who is going to serve your icecream at night?

    Have a good one :)

  5. Abadi says:

Bill: Hey marra :) well you see not everyone in Kuwait is as loaded as you (Not everyone can afford a driver).

Actually security guards are already present 24/7 – so I don’t see the harm (infact many benefeits) if they open the bridge for a few more hours. NOTE that it is packed at the marina main mall parking lots, so people tend to park at the other side where parking spaces are available.

Tarra & a Good day to you 2..

P.S. since you qualify to be a Troll, you can always make a few extra bucks at Marina (Hey, the ch*%ks there are awsome!)
