What are friends for? Let’s start with defining a friend. A friend is a person who is caring, loving, loyal, supportive, protective, and offers many more to another friend. These, more or less cover the characteristics of a friend.
Friends in general come in different categories, mainly friends who care for your interest (also known as good or ‘worthy’ friends), and ‘friends’ who looks to their own interest only whereas making it seem to be taking care of your interest but on the other hand taking advantage of friendship (also known as ‘unworthy’ friends – which in the course of time will reveal).
A ‘good’ friend is a person whom gives advice, the kind of advice that can redirect to the path of reason to bring a person to their senses.
Getting into the subject, Kuwait, a peaceful country in a very unstable region, is always referred to as a ‘friend’ by the biggest power, the United States of America. Recapping/reciting history, the USA was the country that mostly contributed towards the liberation of Kuwait in 1991 against the Iraqi Invasion, which makes Kuwait very thankful and in a way indebted to all the allies and the powers (especially the USA) that lead to its freedom.
The liberation event led to a very close bonding and strong relationship between the two countries (Kuwait & USA). Ever since, Kuwait has fully supported the USA, and always kept a blind fold aside for some of the USA’s recent irrational decisions.
Such decisions made that do not consider the consequences that will not only affect the USA, but will also affect a ‘friend’ like Kuwait severely particularly with its neighboring countries. The Bush government/administration has the mentality of what we see in old western movies, believing the portrayed image of the cowboys as the heroes and the red Indians as villains; but in reality the red Indians ‘native Americans’ were the victims, and were forced and driven out of their homes and stripped from all their rights, so naturally they will fight back. Ironically we never learn from our history lessons, and President Bush is repeating history of the old western stories but in a different manner, this time on foreign land, starting with Afghanistan (Taliban regime whom they created to fight Russia and Iran), then Iraq, and now threatening Syria and Iran.
Also the USA has been and still is absurdly supporting Israel, a country whom illegally occupied Palestine and parts of Lebanon and Syria looting and killing hundred thousands of innocent people, which only exists due to the full support of the USA regardless of all crimes committed on the innocents and breaching of human rights in all aspects.
The USA has made a decision to support a criminal state, and decisions that are contradicting with their own policies that they use against the rest of the ‘undemocratic’ world, which in their state of mind needs cleansing.
These decisions will lead the USA to a deep dark pit hole, and will eventually drag Kuwait along being the supportive ‘blindfolded’ friend.
But then again aren’t friends there to guide and give sensible advice? Isn’t it about time for Kuwait to realize it’s role and duty as a friend, in fact make the effort to fall in the category of a ‘good worthy friend’ and act upon it? At the end of the day Kuwait should be concerned for their friends and also for its own interests and what may be the aftermath or result of that friend’s actions/decisions that (God Forbid) may in a direct or indirect way have a negative affect on our beloved Kuwait.
Sorry for not posting on Friday, been really busy on the weekend:( but i had time to pass by Burger Bar for dinner. Its located in Kuwait city at the Holiday Inn downtown Hotel. The ambiance and the decoration is great, price was reasonable but a little bit higher than Johnny Rockets, here comes the worst part, overall the restaurant cleanness, lighting, seating, price, parking place and customer service was great but the meat patty used in the burgers was really bad. Had no taste and hard, we even ordered a medium well and still no luck. But they have a noodle menu which they say is not ready yet. But dont take my word, my taste buds aren’t that good anyway. Enjoy!
So we all are amazed how come a country like Kuwait with millions pouring in from oil can have blackouts due to electricity shortages, The time magazines even wrote an article how Kuwait is going to be in the dark this summer. I really do not know why we have an electricity shortage or who exactly is stealing the country:p (sounds like the Kuwaiti version of the Enron story) but would like to comment on how stupid this”controlled blackout”is, lets say the ministry of idiots, sorry meant electricity made a certain program to monitor the consumption of residential homes in Kuwait, and separated into each area, then they start promoting there lame advertising about conserving electricity. So monitoring starts on all houses around each area, and a list is created with the best homes that are conserving electricity. This list goes to the newspaper with the family name that is best conserving electricity and as a benefit no electicity is cut through out the summer time for that house hold, and offcource the most house using electricity has to be posted too as the highest waster of them all (sure its a guy from the Kuwait Municipality), so when the owner of the house (the guy from the Municipality) goes to the co-op to by something, everybody there will give him a mean electrifying look:P So instead of this Tarsheed lame advertising, they should promote such programmes that rewards a house hold owner to keep the electricity consumption down, init! so what do you folks think, would a program like this work around here.

Where should they go!?
Posted by: Qaiss in Health & Food Related Issues, Kuwait, up and aboutI’ll explain what this post has to do with the new Anti-Platinum campaign i’m starting,(located on the top right) some whom know me, know how i try explian how obesity and fast food can effect us, and how Kuwait is going into a health crises. So a close friend of mine who is quite obese, and i could not personally accept it, so i have been chasing him for ages to work out, loose weight, go on a diet really anything. So he took the first step with a diet company, then today after long talks about the gym he accepted to join a gym, we went together and as he registered at obviously Platinum, he was told that he canot use the treadmill! i was shocked, if obese customers cant use the treadmill who the hell does, models:P then the trainer there says okay maybe for 15 minutes only! which honestly made me more frustrated, then infront of everybody there, he asks my friend whats your weight? Many people like to keep there body weights private, but this trainer infront of everybody started pushing for the answer. So on the spot my friend just walked out of the gym and even though the trainer and the receptionist knew there where wrong and what they did is discriminative, nothing was done to stop him leaving the gym. I tried personally to reach the manager of the gym but with no luck (or avoiding me as it seems) so i took my anger back to the blog, and see what you folks think? I mean how ignorant the management of Platinum can be, obese customers are your targeted customers, which you are supposed to make a good example off, these are the customers when loosing weight in the gym will create positive advertising. I guess an apology is the least from Platinum, other than that the banner will stay until my credit card gets stolen or overdue:P    Â

Hello io81.com readers,
this is my first post here, im Borzaiga and ill be drawing all over the place :p
After a fourty year struggle, Kuwaiti women were granted their full political right (yeah right !), and now a law passed that prohibits women from working (from 8pm to 7am, except for the medical sector). So a parliment, most of them are men, passes a law dictating what time women should stop/start working, whats next ? dictating when to go home ? what time to go to bed ? what to wear ? i drew a cartoon depicting the state we are in, i call it “the cave man” … enjoy !
if you have been watching the news lately or more precise the weather news, you must have noticed Hurricane Gonu, it began 3 days ago on the Indian ocean and is moving closer by the day upwards to the Persian gulf, touched parts of Indian by Sunday and now its growing in full force into Oman, for more detail on Oman, switch to Omans main news station. The theory behind these Hurricanes that they grow stronger on warm water, which we have plenty off but some may reach higher categories and some lower, the one on the coast of Oman is a Hurricane 4 categories and wind speed are reaching up to 320km/h. These are really serious winds and this Hurricane may pick up more speed passing through UAE and heading to Kuwait, but it may go to a lower category and become a tropical storm and die out over land. In case it picks up more speed, we should start taking precautions or atleast plan for something, will keep you updated. Do you think i should start a Tornado/Hurricane Chaser Program:P more info:Link

Sometimes i get the feeling Kuwait is on hold, its like we are in a time gap, some respect time and other dont even care. This creates a conflict, will explain; when my Showtime receiver stopped working for no reason, i had to go to ardiyah to fix it. wasted there 2 hours, 1 hour and forty minutes waiting and the other 20 minutes was for re-signaling my card, which they could have done over the phone. Even when i called the call center at Showtime before i went, he told me nothing about re-signaling the smart card and i had to go to ardiyah. So after the total of 3 hours wasted went back home, installed my Showtime receiver and again no signal. So now i knew what i had to do and even though i hate doing so. I called the Showtime Call center next day and said ”I need somebody to come today and fix my reveiver!!!” as soon as the employee heard my voice saying so he said, in a couple of hours the technician will be at your home, and he did. So i have wasted about 3 hours of my day for nothing. What makes me mad here, is that why do we have to get all noisy and angry to get decent service in this country, till when is the consumer still being disrespected? Then another waste of time is these magazines like Bazzaar, fully loaded plagiarism magazines, and others, that have no real content and real writers behind them. Ask your self one thing, Who the hell is this author that i’m supposed to waste 20minutes of my time reading his article? what makes me sad here is that we do not have real good journalist, searching every day issues and seeking the truth behind stories or leads. When you open the newspapers every day its the same thing, how about finding local stories like who are these kids behind the signals selling toys, what was the real reason for all the fish dying in 2001(6foo7 elasmak). Why is time in Kuwait so disrespected? picture taken: Bupp.Blogs.com “expressing frustration”… and sorry for not posting on Thursday, was really busy.

The 1-800 number
Posted by: Qaiss in Kuwait, up and about, Marketing & Media, New Concepts & Idea'sMost US students and people who traveled to the US would understand the 1800 toll free number, just to explain, its a number mostly used by US companies or organization and most important its free of charge, so if your living in North Carolina and wanted to reserve a hotel in New York, you would be making an interstate call but free of charge when using the toll free number provided by the hotel. This toll free number increases the chance for you to make a call and ofcourse make a reservation. The other smart thing that came from such numbers is the addition of alphabets ie: 1-800-Call me, which is really 1-800-225563. The smart thing with alphabets is that you would never forget the number its always 1800 call me. Same concept behind the IP address, all website have specific IP address but we assign a name for easier memorization. Okay back to Kuwait, we do have some sort of 1800 numbers these are the numbers that we all know that start with 8.. like 808080. These are called hunting lines and realy expensive to buy espacaily the ones with certain patterns like 898989 or 858585, they can reach up too 6000kd and ofcourse the lesser patterns are cheaper, KNCC made a smart move with its number choice, its 80film which is really 803456: cheap and smart..Commercial bank of Kuwait had a similar concept with its 888CBK. These numbers make an easier way to memorize company numbers,(My Gift Express had 26gifts or 2644387) but the problem with such numbers is the allocation of caller expense, if you call such a number you get charged, if a company using such a number call you, you get charged! so why the hell does the Ministry of Communication do some new kind of line that keeps the cost of the phone call with the caller of the land line?? MTC, Wataniyah,NBK,CBK,Layalina, a bunch of airline ticketing shops should stop using land lines and stop selling their service’s and in the same time charge us for the phone call that we regretted picking up at the first place. ( Hey!! thats a new business idea….gtg:P)
